Saving Energy - Survey Reveals Common Misconceptions

People have different ideas about how to best save energy at home. Ask the average person on the street, and 'switching the lights off' is the most frequent answer you will get. While that is certainly not a bad idea, studies show that swapping out your light bulbs for energy-efficient versions has a much greater savings potential.

A new comprehensive survey published this week shows that generally most people think of curtailment measures when asked how to save energy, such as switching off lights, driving less and unplugging appliances. In fact, it is generally much more effective to use newer and more efficient equipment than to use old appliances sparingly.
